To the North West out about 27 miles from Las Vegas on highway 95, you'll find the home of the Silver City Shooters Society. Going west on West Charleston Blvd, you'll find the home of the Desert Desperados cowboys. Heading south on I-15 in Jean, Nevada you'll find the home of the Nevada Rangers. Take a trip to Boulder City, Nevada (about 20 miles West of Las Vegas, and find the Eldorado Cowboys. Now if ya want to take a little further trip, just jump on Hwy 160 to Pahrump, Nevada and shoot with the Lone Wolf Shooters. Take Hwy 95 north to Amargosa Valley and visit with the Pahrump Cowboys. |
Now here are some fun side trips ya might want to take. Thar's a link to each site so's ya can look it over and git a better map to that site and make a decision if ya wanta' go thar.
always interesting, but son, it sure gits hot down thar in the summer. Suggest ya go early in the morning from May thru September. It's a beautiful drive around Lake Mead on your way back. Can even drive up to Logandale and look at some old Indian dwellings. Valley of Fire State Park out that way, also. |
For Cowboy Shooters, though, I would like to see them just go West on
Charleston. First stop would be the BLM visitor center and, if they want
it, the scenic drive,
Red Rock Canyon has everything to offer.
As they continue west, the next thing they would come to is the Spring
Mountain State Park. There is the ranch house (and guided tours
depending on the day and hour) and it is a spot consistent with Cowboy
Shooters considering the fact that it was a working ranch for many, many
years and has an interesting history.
Still heading toward Blue Diamond, the next spot they come to would be Bonnie
Springs Old Nevada where they can shop, see a gun fight, petting
zoo, have a cool libation or something to eat and a horseback ride if
they are inclined.
Going out this way they also stand a good chance of seeing some wild
burros. Information provided by

Mt. Charleston is a great trip. It takes about 4 to 5 hour round trip. Take a picnic basket, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and visit Lee Canyon and Kyle Canyon. Cool in the summer, snow in the winter. Kyle Canyon has a restaurant, Lee Canyon has picnic areas. Take Hwy 95 NorthWest out of Las Vegas. On your way out, in downtown Las Vegas is the Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort. Just a couple of buildings but interesting history. As you drive north on Hwy 95, just about 5 miles up the road is the Floyd Lamb State Park. |

A great day trip would be Zion National Park. Take I-15 north to just past St. George, Utah. Follow the signs. Ya might want to leave town about 7 am. Stop off in Mesquite, Nevada (about 77 miles north on I-15) for breakfast. Figure on getting back about 7 pm. or so. |
